Why Wi-Fi 6?

Why Wi-Fi 6?

Wireless networks have become the backbone of modern communication and connectivity, powering everything from personal devices to enterprise-level systems. As technology continues to evolve, the next step in wireless networking is the adoption of Wi-Fi 6, also known as 802.11ax. In this blog post, we’ll explore why companies should upgrade their wireless networks to Wi-Fi 6.

Why Wi-Fi 6? - Re-solution

Higher Speeds

One of the most significant benefits of Wi-Fi 6 is its faster speeds. With a theoretical maximum speed of 9.6 Gbps, Wi-Fi 6 is capable of delivering up to 40% faster speeds than the previous Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standard. This means that companies can enjoy faster data transfer rates, smoother video conferencing, and quicker access to cloud-based applications.

Improved Capacity

In addition to faster speeds, Wi-Fi 6 also offers improved capacity. This is achieved through the use of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology. MU-MIMO allows multiple devices to simultaneously connect to a single access point (AP) and transmit data. In previous wireless standards, only one device could transmit at a time, leading to slower performance and bottlenecks. Wi-Fi 6 can support up to 8 simultaneous connections, providing more bandwidth to each device and reducing network congestion.

Lower Latency

Wi-Fi 6 also offers lower latency than previous wireless standards. Latency refers to the time it takes for data to travel from a device to its destination and back. With Wi-Fi 6, latency is reduced by up to 75%, making it ideal for real-time applications such as gaming and video conferencing. This also means that companies can enjoy more responsive cloud-based applications and faster data transfer rates.

Better battery life

Wi-Fi 6 uses a new technology called Target Wake Time (TWT), which allows devices to conserve battery life by scheduling communication times with the network.

Improved security

Wi-Fi 6 includes new security features, such as WPA3, which provides stronger encryption and better protection against hacking.

Whether you’re considering Wi-Fi 6 now or just want to explore what is in the market at the moment, Cisco and Meraki Wi-Fi 6 Access Points are leading from the front.
