Accountancy Firm modernises with Cisco Meraki

Customer

London Accountancy and Finance organisation – Breakthrough Finance Limited – 10 Employees

Objective

To modernise and future proof the office network at the HQ, ensuring that internal users have both secure wired and wireless connectivity when connecting to external services. To promote flexible working, the solution should also incorporate the ability to VPN back to the HQ. Office visitors and guest users also require secure internet access away from the main corporate network.

The solution should be easy to access and maintain with reporting functions available to business stakeholders. This will form the basis for further network transformation services.

Solution

  • Cisco Meraki MX64 Wireless
    • Unified visibility and control of the entire network on a single dashboard – covering wireless, switching, and security appliances
    • Highly available and secure (PCI / HIPAA compliant)
    • Automated network monitoring and alerts
    • Continuous feature updates delivered from the cloud

Overview

Located in the heart of London city, Breakthrough Finance (BTF) provide multiple financial services to their customer base, including accounting, payroll and taxation services. Although small in terms of the number of employees, BTF believes that it’s not always about the size but more importantly, it’s about the quality and customer experience. This is one of the key reasons that Re-solution was chosen as the preferred IT solutions and services partner – as our core values aligned perfectly with the customers.

With a large and diverse customer base, the team at Breakthrough Finance needed to ensure that access, sharing and storing of any company data was secure and free from attack. The network needed to support the separation of wireless traffic depending on whether this was an internal or guest user traffic. Although the LAN was not in scope BTF wanted to separate LAN and wireless traffic so that different access and control policies and could be applied to the internal users.

Outbound external connectivity needed security bolstering to include URL filtering and malware protection. With potential new customers and clients visiting the HQ, there was an additional need to provide secure guest internet access to these users from the HQ location.

Feedback

In summary

As a valued and trusted partner, Re-solution worked hand in hand with the team at BTF to ensure a seamless transition to the new network architecture. Cisco’s MX64W series firewall was deployed to protect the internet perimeter, whilst at the same time providing both internal wireless through a dedicated secure SSID and secure guest services through a dedicated splash portal page. Advanced malware protection (AMP) and URL were deployed through the Meraki cloud.
